Cooking for the Freezer, continued

Last Saturday I shared a post on prepping ready made meals for the freezer. Well, here’s another super simple meal that freezes and warms well, Baked Ziti. 

  • Browned hamburger (I used some that I had in the freezer from our last trip to Sam’s)
  • Favorite Spaghetti Sauce
  • Pasta of your choice (ziti, rigatoni, spaghetti, macaroni); cooked and drained
  • Cheese (Parmesan, Italian blend, cheddar)

Pour pasta into casserole dish. (Make enough for 2 meals and divide between 2 casserole dishes. 1 prep and clean up, 2 meals). Mix hamburger and sauce together.  Pour over pasta. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Cover and freeze. To cook, bake in 350 degree oven for 30-45 minutes, depending on the size of your dish. Too with additional cheese, let melt, and serve. Add a salad, and dinner is ready.

I often turn this into baked spaghetti by cooking extra sauce and noodles when making spaghetti. Instead of eating leftover spaghetti for a week, layer the noodles and sauce in a casserole dish and freeze for later. 

This dish is great for a week day lunch. Put in the oven, and set the automatic bake and timer.  Lunch is ready when you are.
